What Causes Numbness In The Thumb After A Neck Surgery?

My right thumb has been numb since Sept. 10, 2010 my right is sensitive to touch it is also sensitive to cold. I have have neck surgery and after getting home I passed out hitting on my right side. I had swelling in my right hand and arm. It took 6 months before I could even use it again. I have also recently had carpel tunnel surgery. I still have the pain, numbness sensitive to touch the top of my hand and my thumb is numb and at times my entire right goes numb and my elbow and shoulder are sore and stiff

Hello,

Most probably it will be a spine-related problem like nerve compression following the procedure.

As a first line management you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief.

If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a neurologist and plan for an MRI scan.
