What Causes Numbness In The Right Arm Fingers?

my right arm from the elbow down to the tips of my fingers go numb and tingly when I am sleeping. Ican sleep on my back fine however I prefer sleping on my left side with the arm up over my head slightly or mu tummy with arm up slightly. Usually with a minute or two of sleeping in those positions my arm goes numb tingly and aches. I have to stretch it out to make it go away. Could it possibly be a pnched nerve?

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for your query.
Due to compression of nerve root in cervical spine there is tingling numbness and pain associated with it.
I will advise you to MRI cervical spine for better diagnosis.

For these symptoms analgesic and neurotropic like pregabalin and methylcobalaminmedication can be started consulting your doctor.
Till time, avoid lifting weights, Sit with support to back. You can consult physiotherapist for help.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any more concern.
Warm Regards.
