What Causes Numbness In The Face And Tongue?

yesterday I was not feeling well , went to the ER in the am with numbness to the left side of my face and tongue, they did an EKG and it was normal, at the pm I had to go back my entire stomach was hurting had a headache , while I was there they did another EKG and it was normal but while the Dr. was in there I had several bouts of sharp pain in my left chest , she said it was probably gas and I requested a Triponin test which came back normal, does this mean maybe it was gas or possible muscle pain

Hi Dear,

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of numbness in the face and tongue is because of facial nerve paralysis known as bell's palsy. It could be due to low blood sugar level in your body, stroke, and heart burn

I would suggest you to ;-

- Start exercise of facial muscles .

- Start physical therapy of muscles .

Consult oral surgeon or neurosurgeon for proper evaluation of the condition and to rule out cause like acoustic neuroma or nerve trauma. Doctor may order blood test , X-ray or CT scan. He/she may artificial tears (methyl cellulose) , prednisone, or anti viral medicine like acyclovir.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
