What Causes Numbness In The Ear?

Hi I am a 33 year old female. 5ft-2in and 130lbs. I have family history of cancer ( every type it seems ) and heart disease. I have moderately high blood pressure. I also have 2 children ages 8 and 6. I do not take birth control pills. The only pills that I do take is roxycodone and percocet for a couple herniated disks in my lower back. I am writing because about 9 months ago my right ear and about 2in all around my ear were completely numb and was numb for about 1 month. No here it is 9 months later and my whole forehead and about an inch and a half into my haiibe is numb and has been for about 3 days.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Numbness of right ear and around 9 months ago and now the whole forehead and around as you have mentioned, taking percocet and other medicines for herniated disc. The most common causes I can think about are as follows:
Numbness is necessarily due to involvement of the nerves directly or indirectly and this can occur due to compression, stretching, or due to generalized or local disease.

Hence I would advise you the following:
Consult an ENT Surgeon for preliminary examination and evaluation so that a probable cause and further investigations like MRI, nerve tests can be done.
Second opinion of a Neurologist be taken if advised so.
The management will obviously be as per the cause found.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
