What Causes Numbness In Ears?

Hi Dr, I woke up this morning and both my ears feel numb - like there s water in there or I need to gulp to clear them - like on an aeroplane but they aren t clearing. Is this to do with a change in air pressure. I use earphones for making phone calls during the day as part of my job - is that causing a problem? thankyou. YYYY@YYYY
