What Causes Numbness In Ear Cartilage?

for the past few weeks I have been experiencing frequent bouts of a sensation in the cartilage in my ear(s). It feels like a little flash of numbness or contraction. It lasts for a few seconds or minutes. I have pulled up on my ear to see if it would stop and it does. I recently began bolwing for the season and have a tightness in my upper shoulder/neck muscles. I am guessing that this my be the cause. Your opinion.
