What Causes Numbness Around The Tailbone Area?

I have numbness around the base of my back (tailbone) area. If I am sitting, and squeeze my muscles around this area, it is very numb and sore. Also when I try to stand from sitting, I get very sore/numb pains in my tailbone area. I don t know if it s linked but have also got plantar fasciitis and very limited mobility in my ankles/feet/toes.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

Numbness in the buttocks may be caused by a medical condition, such as piriformis syndrome or a pinched nerve
I suggest using anti inflammatory medications such as Ibuprofen to relieve the symptoms.
I also suggest to avoid movements that can trigger the symptoms.
If the symptoms continue, you should see a neurologist for further evaluation.

Hope my answer was helpful.

If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!
