Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 19 yr old daughter has extreme numbness and tremors in both hands (index finger and thumb). She has been checked by a neurologist, and he state that her ulnar and median nerves are fine. What else could be causing this. She also has a difficult time sleeping at night. Don t know if there is and correlation.
Hello. Thanks for asking on Healthcaremagic. Tremors in hands could be a starting symptom of hyperthyroidism. Or it could be due to anxiety. Get her tested for thyroid hormone profile in blood. Go for blood test at morning fasting 8am. If she is hyperthyroid she might have other symptoms like weight loss despite increased appetite, copious stools, bulging eyes, intolerance to heat, palpitations etc. Better to rule out with a simple blood test. Hope I helped. Thanks.
