What Causes Numbness And Tingling Sensation In The Feet?

Yes, please I hope you can help me! I have been having many problems as of late. I have been experencing numbness and tingling in my feet, hands, bottom lip and left jaw line. I also have lower back pain, I have had surgery on my back, titanium has been put in my back, from my bra strap to my butt crack, I also have a pacemaker in my bladder, and a transvaginal mesh. My family doctor has checked my thyroid which showed that everything was ok. My kidney disease is in stage 3, also have glaucoma. She has checked my blood sugar and that was ok too. Diabetes ruins in my family on both sides the same as with glaucoma (my dad & his sister, my aunt) my dad has passed but my aunt is now legally blind she is 84 years old. My mom has had a stroke, she can not talk seems to be the only flaw, but her flustration with not being able to be understanded is overwelming and she has become combative, which she never was before. I also have high blood pressure and high colesterial (I just checked my bp it was 95/50) so it seems to be ok. Please ask me any questions so I can help find out what is wrong with me. THANK YOU Sorry can t afford to pay the fee!

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

There are a variety of reasons people could experience numb or tingling feet and legs and fibromyalgia are one of this and most common.

Other conditions include multiple sclerosis, diabetes, tarsal tunnel syndrome, peripheral artery disease, and having too much pressure on the nerves.

Treatment can be started when the right cause is found. In your case, symptoms indicate that it could be neuropathy or fibromyalgia.

I would suggest doing Doppler ultrasound and EMG for a start. Till that check, your blood sugar and calcium levels since these causes may lead to numbness as well.

Though occasional numbness can occur, persistent numbness and tingling can be an indication of a serious underlying medical problem.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
