What Causes Numbness And Pain In The Feet After Total Ankle Replacement?

I had a nerve block done recently (6 months ago) due to a total ankle replacement. Still have tremendous amount of numbness in the foot operated on and with constant nerve stabbing type pains. Do I have nerve damage? DPM said it should go away in another 6 months. Comments or suggestions, please- Am 74 years old.
