What Causes Numbness And Pain In Arms?

What could cause your hands and arms to go to sleep, burn and hurt at times during day, but at night can hurt and burn so bad you have to get up from sleep for relief. I have had to start sleeping on my back only, it I lay on my side or stomach, I can feel the numbness start. I am female, 61 years old. Thanks..

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Dear patient tingling and numbness in both hands more at night is mostly due to neuropathy.are you diabetic? Do u have neck pain? Cervical disc prolapse with nerve root compression can also lead to this condition.kindly check your blood sugar level if not checked previously. If it's normal then I would suggest mri of cervical spine to rule out disc problem. Start taking methylcobalamin plus pregabalin tablet once at bedtime. I would advise injection vitamin B12 on alternate days for 3 times. All the best.
