What Causes Nodules On The Thyroid Gland While Suffering From Hypothyroidism?
I am 60 years old female who is hypothyroid for the past 5 years with few nodules and have been taking .025 microgram of Levothyroxine. Every year I have been doing the US of my thyroid and the nodules were not growing and stable. My TSH is 2.370 and this time in the US, the lower pole shows a solid appearing heterogenous nodule measuring 1.1x.7x1.0 cm previously measuring ,9x,9x.4 cm minimally larger. The other nodules are hypoechoic measuring less than 1 cm and the size has not changed from before. My endocrinologist is asking me to get my thyroid biopsied and I am worried.
Hi thanks for using healthcaremagic.. Your condition is Hypothyroidim with multinodular goitre.. When the nodule becomes more than 1cm in size we have to do FNAC to rule out You don't have to worry about the procedure. It is a simple procedure and is not painfull.FNAC will give more details about the nodule. Hence go ahead with the planned procedure. thank you
