What Causes Neck Stiffness And Sore Throat After Removing Polyps In The Vocal Cord?

Hello I had 2 vocal cord surgerys since April 28th 2017. Removed polyps from right side then 7 weeks later they did left side. Problem being I have a constant stiff neck and sore throat for about 2 months. Stiffness usually occurs in the evening, but I do wake up with soreness and even wakes me up in middle of the night

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Stiff neck post vocal cord surgery could be due to the positioning given during the surgical procedure. Mostly self limited and can be minimized by passive and active neck movements.

Sore throat could be due to minor trauma to oropharynx encountered during rigid laryngoscopy, again self limiting.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Manu Wilfred
