What Causes Nausea In A Diabetic On Metformin And Insulin?

I have a friend who is diabetic, takes metformin twice daily, insulin at night. Her blood checks are highly erratic, 400 s, back down to 150 s, back up, back down, etc. She is having constant nausea (no vomiting), making her feel terrible all the time. She had a scope done, Dr told her today stomach tissue normal, that it must be related to the diabetes. Any suggestions to help her?

Metformin can give nausea, so it may be a side effect of this medicine.
What I advise is that she tries to stabilize her diet as much as possible by eating smaller meals more often during the day; by avoiding too salty, spicy, sweet, fat foods; by elevating slightly the head of the bed, etc.
Once she still continues with the nausea then she should see her local doctor to maybe switch metformin with another medicine for diabetes.
