What Causes Nausea Followed By Fainting?

Hi, I was recently driving to work when I recall feeling some nausea. The next thing I remember I awoke to find the inside of my truck a mess because I had driven off the road and directly into a tree. The seatbelt and airbags saved my life but I do have 16 fractured ribs and multiple sternal fractures. I don t remember feeling like I was going to pass out but I must have. While I was in the hospital they tested me for diabetes, did an EKG and Echo, and a carotid duplex U/S. Everything showed I was in good health. I don t know what else they can test to find the cause of me fainting.

Hi
Thanks for posting on HCM
Sorry to hear what you went through
Apart from diabetes and heart related problems that may cause fainting, there are many other medical conditions that may cause such.Other possible causes may include:
-A vasovagal attack or neurally-mediated syncope, is the most common type of fainting spell.
-Ionic imbalances like low potassium, low calcium, low sodium...may cause fainting.you may have a serum electrolytes tests to exclude these causes.
-Anemia may also cause fainting.A full blood count may help eliminate it.
-You may suffer from a simple fainting spell due to anxiety, fear, pain, intense emotional stress, hunger, or use of alcohol or drugs. Most people who suffer from simple fainting have no underlying heart or neurological problems and results of most tests like the ones you have done may come normal.
-You may have passed out because of the accident. In this case, just a small destraction may have been the cause.
I will suggest you just stay calm, forget about a possible cause of the accident let your Doctors take care of the present situation.
Hope this will help
Wish you a quick recovery
