What Causes Nausea And Intermittent Fever After Treating Strep Throat?
Hello: My grand daughter has been nauseous and fevered on and off for two weeks. Started with strep throat took antibiotics, but didn t finish as she couldn t keep it down. Today got sick at school, felt better at 4, and is now in bed with fever and she says her legs hurt. like cramps. After vomiting, she has a good appitite. What say you? No pain in lower quadrant
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have nausea and intermittent fever after treating strep throat which seems to be due to infection in throat leading to Strep throat. It could be due to bacterial infection of upper respiratory tract as well. Sometimes due to low immunity or incompleteness of antibiotics course residual infection remains in the body and cause fever. I would suggest you to start with warm saline gargles and betadine gargles 3-4 times a day. For pain and swelling you should take ibuprofen or acetaminophen. Consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis and rule out condition like strep throat and viral infection . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics , antiemetic drug along with decongestants and anti inflammatory . Avoid hot, sharp , spicy food substances , do warm saline rinses and carbonated beverages.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
