What Causes Nausea And Frequent Bowel Movements?

I have had straw colored more frequent than usual stools for the past two and a half to three weeks, my gums are bleeding, the last two days that I woke up I felt nauseated, today I have been nauseated all day long and have vomited several times, I feel very light headed, and stepping on the scale I noted a six pound weight loss in the past two weeks without trying. I am a female that is 38 years old, should I be worried?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Diarrhea and vomiting (gastroenteritis) can be associated with weight loss. The loss of fluid and electrolytes ,especially if not replaced in adequate amounts would cause weakness and dizziness that you are experiencing.

Normally with viral or simple bacterial gastroenteritis, the infection does not persist for 3 weeks.

It would be best to see your doctor for an assessment which would likely include sending a sample of stool to the lab.

You may also need blood tests such as complete blood count, urea, creatinine (would help determine how hydrated you are).

I hope this helps
