What Causes Nausea And Bloating After Stopping Qlaira Usage?

Hi, I ve been on Qlaira for a few years and sometimes I don t get my period for a few months at a time. I m 27 years old and approx 50 kg. My periods have always been somewhat irregular, but I want by body to function as normally as it can, so I came off Qlaira approx a week and a half ago. My stomach has been bloated since, I feel a bit nauseous and I have a dull pain in my abdomen which gets worse at times. I have suffered from thrush and kidney infections in the past, so I m thinking maybe its one of those, but I m also aware that it could be reaction to coming off birth control. Do I need to see my GP at the moment or should I wait a little longer? Thanks, C.

Hello ma'am and welcome.

Being on birth control like Qlaira for a long duration of time can cause some what of a dependance on the hormone supplement it provides. Your body gets used to the supply of hormones it provides, and once you are off it, all of a sudden your body has a lesser amount of hormones it was used to.

Hormonal imbalances can result in a foray of symptoms like headaches, acne, gastric symptoms (e.g. abdominal bloating, irritation, eructation, appetite changes, weight gain, etc.), and many others. I would thus recommend a doctors visit if you intend on continuing to be off the Qlaira.

Best wishes.
