What Causes Narcolepsy In An Elderly Person?

I am 88ys old - Female - live alone without any physical disabilities. I am experiencing the constant uncontrollable desire to sleep all day. Bed at 8.30pm sleep 3 hrs awake 3hrs after drinking hot milk. sleep again couple of hours then the same process until it is 8.0am next day. Try to rise from bed, but still tired and exhausted. Why ? Possible diabetis ?

Hello,

It might have multiple causes. It is usually due to depression, obstructive sleep apnoea, side effect of some medications, thyroid abnormalities and dementia.

Kindly visit a sleep specialist for sleep study and arterial blood gas analysis.
