What causes muscle and nerve pain behind the thighs and knees?

I am having deep muscel or nerve pain in the back of my thighs and THE BACK AND LEFT SIDE OF MY KNEE down the front of my leg to my ankle all in my left leg. Dr. has ruled out pinched nerve in my back. It is particularly painful when I am driving or seating in the passenger seat of the car. I am scheduled to see a knee Dr this week, however, since the pain is in my thigh it may be a waste of time. I am looking to find the right physician to see to diagnose and treat this pRobles. 7 I want to go on a road trip, but it becomes very painful and uncomfortable.

Hello,

Pain in the back of the thigh commonly occurs due to tendonitis, meralgia paraesthetica, deep vein thrombosis, peripheral neuropathy or sciatica. Other conditions with similar symptoms are sedentary lifestyle, radiating pain from other injury, injuries, etc.

Get clinically examined by a GP. Get the required blood tests, nerve biopsy, nerve conduction & Imaging tests done. Your treatment will depend upon the severity of the pathology detected. Foe pain you can take acetaminophen or NSAIDS, one sos when required.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
