What Causes Muscle Ache After Having Red Yeast Rice?

I ve been taking Red Yeast Rice for several years and started experiencing muscle pain about 3 months and the pain seems to be getting worse. The dosage i ve been taking is 3600 mg per day, along with 300 mg of CoQ10. I ve been reading up on the side affects of taking RYR and found that some side affects are sever muscle pain. Could this be my problem?

Hi

Thanks for using HealthcareMagic

Red yeast rice contains a statin aND Lovastatin.
This means that unfortunately some of the same side effects that occur in some persons who use other statins (eg lipitor, zocor , crestor etc), can occur with red yeast rice.

It can cause muscle pain in some persons.

I hope this helps
