What Causes Muffling In Ears?

I was listening to really loud music through earphones for about an hour while weightlifting yesterday and now everything seems a tab bit muffled at times and I have a high pitched ringing in my ears. Will this go away within a certain time period or is it permanent?

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hello

You have developed, what is called as noise induced hearing loss and most of the time this is temporary and does not require treatment. However if this happens many times, then the hearing loss and ringing sound can become permanent, so please be careful.
Please avoid using ear phones and loud music, otherwise you may loose your hearing!!
For the time being, you dont have to do anything, just relax and take rest, your symptoms will subside.
If you are not ok in 6-8 hours, meet your ent doctor , who will check your ears and guide you further.

Thanks
