What Causes Mucus With Stools With Constant Backache And Tummy Ache?

Hi, I am a 59 year old female. I am suffering with constant tummy and back ache for the past 10 days. My GP said it was down to constipation but I have emptied my bowels every day although I have noticed that I am passing some mucus with my stools. Do have some kind of irritable bowel problem?
