What Causes Mucus Build Up In The Throat?

I m a 21 year old female and from as far back as high school I ve had mucus build up and my throat and am constantly clearing it . I use to sing but in the last yr my voice has lost it s touch and in the past few months I can t sing at all . I m always hoarse and when I sing past a certain note I have a very sharp pain. I can t even tell a story without feeling like I m drowning in the mucus that constantly builds in my throat . What could this be???

Hi,

You have increase mucus build up in your nose and sinuses which is dripping in your throat, this can be because of sinusitis also.
And because you must be constantly cleaning your throat that pressure might led to edema over your vocal cords that s why voice change, you sings so more prone.
You need to give your vocal cords a rest for a month or so, so only necessary talking with normal pitch no shouting and no whispering.
Do steam inhalation for your mucus, drink plenty of water frequently, do warm saline gargles you will be better.
