What Causes Mucous Formation And Hoarseness In The Throat?

I have had a cold for at least 10 days. It started with thick feeling sticky stuff in my throat, then being hoarse, feeling it in my chest a little and now in my nose and head ,plus my ears feel plugged up sometimes. I still don t feel all better, Could this be more than a cold? I rarely get sick, it s been years since I had a bad cold

ENT Specialist 's  Response
hello, thanks for your query, common cold inflaming the sinuses can cause post nasal drip, which involves ur voice box ( larynx)leading to hoarseness. those secretions can block eusthacian tube( tube connecting to ear and nose) can lead to ear block. u need absolute voice rest , steam inhalation and a course of antibiotics and decongestants. kindly visit an ent surgeon for further assessment and proper treatment. all the best. take care.
