Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Mononucleosis With A History Of Grave S Disease?
I was diagnosed with Graves Disease when I was 35...the doctors did the radioactive uptake to kill my thyroid because it wasn t treatable with medications..at the age of 42 I contracted mononucleosis from my son... I am now 46 and once again have mono...is there any correlation between the Graves disease & the mono...I ve also been diagnosed with have a staph infection and polyps in my sinuses
I think there is no connection between Grave's disease and mononucleosis. Grave is an autoimmune disease that immune system fights thyroid cells especially and mononucleosis is a viral infection caused by Ebstein Bar virus. Mononucleosis is not even related to staphylococcus infection and nasal polyps.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care.
Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
