What Causes Momentary Loss Of Balance And Equilibrium?

Very infrequently I get a momentary (no more than a second or two) sudden loss of balance and equilibrium. I do not lose consciousness. If they attached me to a monitor to measure brain waves they may have to wait weeks for it to recur. Is this something i should be worried about? Is it a mini stroke?
