What Causes Mild Headache With Low Grade Fever?

6 days ago, I developed a mild headache it worsened over the next couple of days and I began to run a low-grade fever - 100 degrees. At that point, 4th day, I saw a Dr. He diagnosed me with a sinus infection and prescribed antibiotic and tylenol with Codine for pain. Fever subsided that day, but I cannot function without the pain relief. I take it every 5 to 6 hours and it only takes the edge off of my pain, enough to get me out of bed and get a few things done. I m 46 and have never had headaches like this. I do NOT believe I have a sinus infection because I have no other symptoms - no mucus, no sore throat, no pain in ears, ect. My pain is in my eyes, temples, and the top of my head. I also have shooting pain in my temples. I know I cannot take this pain medicine long term. Could this be more serious? Should I let it run it s course? What should I do?

Hi,

Get your BP and sugar checked, and eye check-up is to be done for refraction. If all of above are normal and you still feel feverish along with headache then you must visit a neurologist to rule out meningitis (it can be ruled out by your clinical examination). If all of above is normal then you do not have to worry.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
