What Causes Migraines, Sensitivity To Light And Memory Loss With History Of Concussion?

Its been 2 years since I ve experienced a mild concussion at work. I ve seen a specialist for a year and a half and was given natural medication to deal with my symptoms. I ve stopped seeing the specialist and taking the natural meds, but I m still getting migraines, pain in both eyes from light sensitivity and memory problems. I m wondering if I ve lost a lot of brain cells, and if this is going to be permanent?

Hello,

You have a history of migraines, migraines do not go away easily especially if they are chronic. Since you also have a history of concussion, you are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP / Neurologist, get all Imaging tests done to detect any internal injury, trauma or any developing pathology, etc. Your treatment will depend on the pathology detected and your clinical condition.

It will require few lifestyle changes like avoid direct exposure to sunlight, take showers twice daily, stay in dimly lighted comfortable room, take plenty of water and adequate sleep / rest. Use humidifier. Take small amount of home made food multiple times a day. Maintain your eating timings. Avoid oily, salty, spicy junk food. You can take medications like Sumatriptan. They are effective.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
