What Causes Metallic Taste In The Mouth?

I have a metallic taste in my mouth for a month now. Went to the Dr. and she prescribed antibiotics for a sinus infection. It s been three days and no change at all. I have no pain. Could the taste be caused by eustachian tube blockage that I don t feel?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...

As per your complain metallic taste can be due to infection in teeth or gums, sinus infection, upper respiratory tract infection and in case if the tonsil stones are present they are commonly seen to cause a bad taste in mouth and bad breath too..

As it is just 3 days of taking antibiotics, you should keep patience and continue taking the medication as it can take atleast a week for infection to improve..

Along with it to mask the taste you can make her gargle with flavoured antiseptic mouthwash..
Chew flavoured sugarfree chewing gum..
Drink plenty of water and do warm saline gargles..
You can also do steam inhalation with a few drops of Eucalyptus oil in boiling water..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
