What Causes Metallic Taste And Numbness In The Tongue?

hello sir, i am a woman aged 33 and came off my contraceptive pill in december as we are trying for a baby, but in the last few days i have been experiencing a metallic taste in my mouth and an almost tingling/ slight numbness (very slight but noticable) on the tip of my tongue and no amount of brushing my teeth or using powerful mouth wash is removing the taste. I have no cavities or any metal fillings in my mouth either nor do i take any medication or anti biotics. My question is, is this something i should be worried about or maybe book an appointment with my gp? Thank you in advance.

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
The metallic taste mouth can be due to many other factors like some medicines, general medical diseases and so on.
It is better that you book an appointment with your GP as you need a clinical evaluation, investigations and treatment if at all needed.
Otherwise if the cause is not known, this simply can be due to some factors that are self-limiting.
Yet it is better to get properly investigated as you are planning for a baby too.
