What Causes Menstruation Past The Age Of 50?

I m a 51 year old semi active woman. I still get my period, as a matter of fact I can still set a clock by it every 28 days. Except last month it was 5 days late, and this month it was three days early. To most people I m sure that s nothing, but, like I said, I can literally set a clock by my period. I have four sisters, who have all has hysterectomies before they were even 40, even my Mom, who is deceased. I m the youngest in my family, and I have no female that I can bounce a question off because none of them have gone through Menopause naturally. My question is... IS IT NORMAL TO WANT MY HUSBAND 24 HOURS OF EVERY DAY? We ve been married almost 17 years, and I m afraid I m gonna kill the poor man! He doesn t complain of course, he s 2 years older. Also, when should I expect my period to GO AWAY??? Thanks

Hello and welcome to HCM,
There is a wide variation in age at which menopause is attained.
The age of menopause varies from 45 to 55 years.
It is not abnormal to menstruate even after 50 years age of age, however, you need to remain in touch with your gynecologist for routine check up.
Bleeding after menopausal age i.e. 55 years may be indicative of abnormality like endometrial hyperplasia or endometrial growth.
Thus, you need to remain aware about the possibilities of prolonged bleeding and follow up with your gynecologist regularly.
Rest there is nothing to worry.
You can continue with your sexual life without worrying much.

Thanks and take care
