What Causes Lumps Behind Ear And Hair Loss Around It?

Hey there, Thank you for being available. My girlfriend Daphne has two lumps behind her ear for the last few weeks. The dr recommended to use a cooling gel to remedy. The lumps remain now causing hair loss where the lumps are. Any suggestions? Natural remedies preferred(turmeric, ginger, garlic) but open to meds. Thank you again, for your time & knowledge. - Mike D.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Lumps behind the ear can be due to infection, bumps, knots, swelling, nodules, cysts, mastoiditis, etc. Most lumps are harmless but it should be treated and not left neglected. Get clinically examined by a GP or ENT to detect infection, cyst, mastoiditis, etc. Sometimes, untreated ear infections spread and may cause mastoiditis.

If it is a cyst it will be removed by surgery by the treating doctor under LA. Conservative treatment is commonly given to treat Mastoiditis. But if it does not respond to treatment surgery may be needed to drain the middle ear. She can take enriched protein diet to stop hair fall. Take Logihair caps, once daily to help hair re-growth & stop hair fall. Get her treated at the earliest.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
