What Causes Lump On Labia Majora?

Hi i have a lump on my left side of the labia majora. I had had an issue with that months before although at that time it was smaller and the gyne who saw me saod it woukd dissapear overtime. Well, i began noticing the pain 6 months after. It swelled and looked like a shiny red pimple and it hurts to touch it. I tried pricking it thinking it was an infected pimple but the discharge from the lump smelled awful. I m frightened. What is it?

Hi ! Good morning. I am Dr Shareef answering your query.

The lump being there for six months without any pain or increase in size indicates that possibly it was a benign cyst which of late got infected and now turned into an abscess. If you are sexually active, you should get yourself tested for STD as well. I would advise you to visit your gynaecologist for a re assessment of the lesion for further definitive management. Till then, you could start with an anti inflammatory drug along with a proton pump inhibitor for a symptomatic relief.

I hope this information would help you in discussing with your family physician/gynaecologist in further management of your problem. Please do not hesitate to ask in case of any further doubts.

Thanks for choosing health care magic to clear doubts on your health problems. I wish you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
