Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a lump appear in my neck on left side by jaw (almost where u would feel your pulse) it hurts from time to time and appears in size of a egg after I eat. It's been about 3 months of going on! Was hoping this was free but I don't have the money! Ty's anyway!
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...
As per your complain swelling on neck by the side of jaw that increases during eating is a clear cut indication of SIALOLITHIASIS that is formation of crystalline stones in the duct of the submandibular salivary gland which is located under the jaw line..
As the duct gets obstructed and when the food is taken salivation increases and due to obstruction the saliva flows back into the gland rather than flowing to mouth causing swelling..
You should consult an oral physician and get evaluated and if the stones are superficial that located in the duct in the area of the floor of mouth the physician can palpate it and remove by pushing towards the duct orifice..
Deeper stones has to be located by endoscopic technique known as SIALOSCOPY and surgically removed..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards.. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
