Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi!I am a very active 36 year old woman. I have had some leg injuries over the years but nothing more serious than a broken left and right leg ( at different times) and an injured IT band while training for a marathon. I occasionally have pain in both of my knees but nothing that prevents me from working out. Recently, however, I discovered a weird, moveable lump in my left knee to the left of the knee cap. You can actually see and feel it move as I bend my knee......its a fun little party trick. It doesn t hurt when I do it but it pops which feels strange. From time to time while I am walking my knee just gives out and hurts for a little. Any idea what it is? Im worried I tore my meniscus or MCL.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have lump in knee with cracking noise . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like ACL OR MCL , baker's cyst , runner's knee or gas bubble . I would suggest you to stop practicing because its the is popping sound along with pain then it is a cause of concern and practice can further damage the joint , apply warm compresses on knee , and take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain , Consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may order CT scan , MRI , or physical examination . Doctor may prescribe muscle relaxant , along with anti inflammatory , or may recommend surgery .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
