What Causes Lowering Of Platelet Count?

I just got a call from my doctor that my platelet count is 124. Two weeks ago it was 134. I had a full blood work done two weeks and everything was normal or great. I do have gilbert syndrome. Should I be worried? By the way I have lost 30 pounds over the last year, I gave double red blood cells about 4 weeks ago, my blood pressure and HR have always been perfect. Any thoughts! Thanks so much!

Hi,
Thanks for asking.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. Platelet count of 124 is not to worry. Mild variation can be seen in day to day.
2. Gilbert syndrome does not affect platelets. Improve your nutrition particularly proteins and Vit B12.
3. Get a bone marrow biopsy to rule out any specific bone marrow occupying lesions. However, repeat test after a month - it could return to normal. Not to worry.
Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
