What Causes Lower Backache And Elevated Calcium Levels?
yes thank you, I m a 21 yr breast cancer survivor....I have been having some lower back pain for about 6 weeks. I had my blood work done at my yearly Oncology apt on Monday of this week, the nurse said my blood work is fine except my calcium is slightly elevated...and my doctor seems a little concerned and wants me to have my back exrayed...do you think I sure me concerned about it as well?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
The backache may be due to some benign reasons like strain or muscular pain as these are the most common causes of backache. However, in your context, it can also be related to your breast cancer especially if your calcium is too high.
But, it's not always the case, it should be taken seriously and at least an x-ray must be done to rule out any serious cause of this condition.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman
