What Causes Lower Back Ache Post Colonoscopy?
My father who is 81 had a colonoscopy under mild sedation 4 days ago. Following day he reports severe lower back ache, with no other symptoms, the pain does not radiate to the leg. He had one polyp removed and one which requires further surgery. Is the pain to be expected and if so which type of pain relief should he take?

Colonoscopy is an invasive procedure and it will definitely cause some pain afterwards. During the procedure the position itself may cause the pain. If he is my patient I will suggest him to take tablet.acetaminophen to get some relief.
