What Causes Lower Abdominal Pain And Painful Urination After First Intercourse?

Hi. I had sex for the first time almost a 9 days ago and I am having some problems after 2 days of it. First I had pain during urination and a lot of urination with pain in lower abdomen and more on the left side. Also I had gas and feeling of fullness with stools thinner than usual. I consulted a physiacian and he gave me medicines. After that the urination problem was solved but the pain on left side continued but it was less. But since then, It s been almost 3 and half day and did not pass any stools. Also there s pea sized swelling on the anus since then.

1. Dyspareunia is the term for pain within the pelvis during sexual intercourse and for some women it is a sign of physical problem while for other they may experience pain as a result of emotional factors.

2. If you experienced it for the first time, possible reasons could be:
. Vaginal dryness or too little arousal before intercourse.
. yeast or urinary tract infection
. inflammation of vagina (vaginitis)
. cystitis/pelvic inflammatory disease (PID)
. fear,guilt or shame related to sex

3. Check with a OBGYN doctor for pelvic examination who may then ask for:
. pelvic ultrasound
. urine culture for bacteria or yeast infection
. urine (routine/microscopic)

4. Till then:
. Use water soluble lubricant
. Empty your bladder before sex
. learn Kegel exercises (vaginal relaxation techniques)
