Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Lower Abdominal Pain And Blood In Stools?
I ve been having stomach problems for a while now and seems to only be getting worse. My primary doctor recommended I see a specialist. The past couple days my stomach pains have intensified and I feel like I have to go to the bathroom several times a day and each time I go nothing really comes out except blood. I know its not hemroids because I was checked for that not too long ago and I dont feel pain in my rectum just in my lower abdomen. Should I wait another week or two before seeing the doctor or should I go to the emergency room?
I think you should not wait for more, but should set an immediate appointment with a gastroenterologist. If cannot consult immediately, should run to ER to get helped there.
You need to run a few diagnostic tests: colonoscopy, abdominal ultrasound, and fecal analysis. Meanwhile, should take antacids after meals; have frequent meals but in small portions.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini
