General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, I have gone through your query.
There are multiple causes of low platelet count like chronic liver disease, ITP, aplastic anemia, certain drugs, etc. If you are not having any other co-morbidities, then most likely its idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura but you must have work-up done for other disorders to rule out other causes. After your physician rules out other causes, then IV glucocorticoids and IV Immunoglobulins can be started for treatment. And always report to the local physician in case of bleeding from any site or if bruises appear on any part of your body.
I hope, my answer will help you.
Regards,
Dr. Maria Daud
