hi
Usually a low lying placenta at this
gestational age migrates up as
pregnancy progresses. There is a bit more than 10 % chance that it doesn't migrate up and remains in lower
uterus in last trimester of pregnancy, when it is called
placenta previa. So repeat
ultrasound at 32 weeks pregnancy. If it is still low repeat ultrasound every fortnight untill 37 weeks of pregnancy. At 37 weeks pregnancy if has not migrated then she needs cesarean section for delivery. She cannot have normal delivery.
The risk with placenta prévia is that she may start bleeding any time and it can be severe. Untill she repeats scan, she should,
1. Avoid intercourse
2.Eat healthy diet rich in iron and take
iron supplements regularly to maintain
hemoglobin level
3.Avoid constipation
4.Avoid heavy work
5. As much as possible Stay within 10 -15 minutes driving distance to major hospital.
6. Avoid travel to remote area or travel by air
7. Attend hospital immediately even if you have slight bleeding or if you have pain abdomen.
She should get admitted to hospital at 34 weeks of pregnancy even if she has no complaints as chances of vaginal bleeding are more in the last weeks of pregnancy.
I hope I have answered to your satisfaction.
