What Causes Low-grade Temperature, Ulcers On Tip Of Tongue With Throat Infection?
My granddaughter, Jordin Greeff, is unwell today. She has a low-grade temperature and small ulcers on the tip of her tongue. She is four and says that her throat is not sore. She has been coughing with a loose, phlegmy cough for the past two days. She had a very nasty throat infection two weeks ago and finished her antibiotic for that about a week ago. Is this a virus and is she infectious? She has just started school and has been sick more than she has been at school. Thank you for your reply. Pam Cochrane
Hi. Low grade temperature indicates infection and need for further course of an antibiotic to be on the safer side. May be some investigations if the Pediatrician feels so. Ulcers on the tip of the tongue are called aphthous and are know to occur in long illness. There is no proven reason of it. This may not be infectious, it looks more of not recovered completely.
