What Causes Low Grade Fever In An Infant?

my 22 month old has consistently run a low grade fever for the last month. Ranging anywhere from 99.5 to 103 degrees. These have all been rectal temperatures. She was recently diagnosed with viral pneumonia and is doing much better but is continuing to run low grade temps. Todays highest was 100.7. What could be wrong?
