What Causes Low Grade Fever Along With Sore Throat?

HI, I have had a fever for going on 4 days now. It started Tuesday as my sisuses and sneezing all day. Low grade fever. By the following day my throat is sore and im tired and achy and cold and fever is like 101-104 going up and down. Does this sound like the flu? or should I go see a doctor or just wait it out.. I also have a cough now and my chest burns and coughing up yellowish/brownish phlegm

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

So sorry to hear about your problem and will try my level best to resolve it to the best of my knowledge..

As per your explanation the symptoms of fever ongoing for 4 days along with sneezing, sore throat and cough with burning chest on coughing and coughing up of yellow-brown phlegm seem to be most probably due to Upper respiratory tract infection, also known as Common Cold or can be due to Influenza or flu.

Both cold and flu are viral infection and treatment is aimed at relieving the symptoms rather than killing the virus as the infection resolves once the virus completes its cycle in human body..

As of now you can start with supportive treatment to relieve the symptoms like:
-First of all start taking a combination of Acetaminophen and Ibuprofen as they will help in reducing fever and sore throat..
-Gargle with a warm saline solution that is by mixing 1 teaspoon salt in a glass of water and warm it to make a luke warm solution..
-Take a combination of decongestant like Phenylephrine, mucolytic like Ambroxol and anti allergic levocetrizine.
-Take cough suppressant containing Dextromethorphan and cough expectorant containing Gueifenesin..
-Do steam inhalations and use a humidifier in your room..
-Avoid spicy and chilled foods..
-Sip on warm water throughout the day..
-Suck throat lozenges and chew a Vitamin C pellet daily..
-Take sufficient rest and avoid exertion..

Consult a General Physician if not relieved..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
