What Causes Low Blood Sugar Levels And Difficulty In Talking?
Hi my mother is suffering from diabetes for last 6 years, and now a days in midnight she feel strange and unable to talk too. and her fasting blood sugar level 40-60 around on that time between 3am to 4am .....May i know is all things done by low blood sugar or anything else ?
Hello, Nobody can really tell you if there is anything else besides the low blood sugar but indeed her symptoms can be attributed to hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). Blood sugar levels below 60 can make her feel "strange" (probably sweating, feeling hungry, trembling etc). Sugars below 40 can even make her pass out. I understand that this has happened a lot of times. If this is true then she needs a careful review of her treatment and diet. You haven't mentioned anything about medications or eating pattern. Night time hypoglycemia can be corrected - most of the times - by adjusting the dose of the drugs and/or adding a snack before bedtime. I suggest you discuss this with a doctor as soon as possible. You can ask again here if you'd like or contact her doctor. Kind Regards!
