What Causes Low Blood Pressure In A Child?

I have a teenage son who is 14 and seem to have low blood pressure as the norm. He just had a physical and his BP was 100/39. Should this be a concern? When he gets sick with a cough/cold he tends to get light headed and weak. He had an unexplained seizure a year ago and 9 months later had a fainting spell when he was sick. Doctors don't seem to be concerned.

Hi
Welcome to the healthcaremagic
Bp of 100/39 is normal. Many a times anemic children have such type of low diastolic pressure.
But unexplained seizure and fainting should be investigated in form of MRI BRAIN,EEG.ECG and if required 2 D echo.If all of these are normal then don't worry.
In your case most probably fainting could be due to vasovagal syncope. So your doctor might not be too concerned which is correct.
Happy to help you
Best regards
