What Causes Low BP While On Metoprolol, Nifedipine And Furosemide?

Good afternoon, My question is: My mom has been taking High Blood Pressure (Nifedipine 30mg) medicine along with Metoprolol 25mg, Potassium 10 MEQ and Furosemide. Yesterday she failed and upon checking her blood pressure it was low 78/48. I stopped the administering of her BP medicine and called her doctor in reference to stopping the Metoprolol. I failed to ask if I am to continue with the potassium and furosemide. Any advice will help, as her appointment is scheduled for next week.

Hi,

I cannot say in your particular case, but generally, furosemide lowers blood pressure BUT many individuals on it need it due to fluid accumulation. It wouldn't be the first BP medicine stopped in general, it would be the nifedipine.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
