What Causes Loud Whooshing Sounds In Ears?

I work at a computer all day. In the afternoon, I usually go grab some water or other drink in the afternoon. Sometimes when I stand up and walk to the break room to grab that beverage, I get a loud whooshing sound in my ears with pressure. What is going on?

Probably due to Eustachian tube dysfunction you're experiencing this phenomenon. The pressure what you feel is the negative pressure due to retraction of tympanic membrane. Drink water in sips or chew gum or do valsalva maneuver frequently; this should help alleviate the symptoms.
